[SOLVED] net_applet fail to connect and hangs

Hi,

I've installed mageia 7.1 to a Sony Vaio SVD1321M2EW.
The brcmfmac43241b4-sdio wifi card works well with open ap-s and net_applet works well, but when you would like to connect a WPA/WPA2 ap the net_applet hangs on connecting.

Meanwhile if I haven't tried to connect with net_applet I can connect through wpa_supplicant and wpa_cli.

this works well and net_applet shows the wifi connection and the internet works through the WPA/WPA2 ap.

how can I fix net_applet to work?

You can either have a look at the code for net_applet and try to figure out the issue yourself. Or you can write a bugreport for net_applet.
Although realistically, judging by the open bugreports for net_applet and some other issues, I personally would recommend to simply switch to networkmanager.

I have installed network manager as your link explained rebooted the machine, stopped net_applet and tried to connect.

Maybe there is another problem.

After installing NetworkManager the Mageia Control Center and its applications doesn't start. It asks the root password but nothing else happens. The console mode drak* utils works well. var/log/messages sais that ### program starts ###.

Maybe not the NetworkManager cause the problem because meanwhile there comes an update to glibc and I had installed it too.

I gave back the laptop, so I don't know if a system update repairs or not, I mark the post solved, because the net_applet problem solved.
