[Solved] How to access the Internet

Postby msdobrescu » Sep 21st, '19, 17:25

Hi, I need a how to for accessing the Internet. Yes, from the dumb user perspective. I am.

I have upgraded to 7, everything goes wild. I do not know what to check.

First, resolv.conf.
I'd need a simple one, like:

Code: Select all
search WORKGROUP
nameserver 192.168.156.1

Where 192.168.156.1 would be my router IP.

Mine is empty, as long as I have it like that, Internet access is all right.
But, by design, this should be created by some tool based on my network setup.

All my devices can manage it, but only one, the one with M7.

What should be enabled from the services perspective?
What must be set in MCC network or in the KDE network applet?

Solved. I have found that my resolv.conf was symlinked to one in the ppp configuration directory, which was not used anymore (actually deleted the ppp connection with drakconnect --del).
I have deleted the symlink, I have configured the network again, it created the correct resolv.conf and finally works fine.
