My wifi stopped working after applying a group of updates to Mageia 7.
I had selected the updates as a group and not noted well what each was so it took me a while to figure out what made my WiFi completely unresponsive.
Eventually I rolled back the update of the package "iwlwifi-firmware" to the previous version and all is good now.
Version 20190603 1.mga.nonfree noarch <<< good
Version 20190709 1.mga.nonfree noarch <<< not so good
If anyone is experiencing similar problems on similar hardware this may help. Here are a few more details about my equipment and the symptoms
iwlwifi is the wireless driver for Intel's current wireless chips so this issue is probably very specific to newer Intel hardware
My hardware:
Asus Zenbook Model UX433FA-DH74
CPU Intel i7-856SU/BGA, using boot option "dis_ucode_ldr"
Network controller: Intel Corporation Cannon Point-LP CNVi [Wireless-AC] (rev 30)
After I upgraded to the newest version of iwlwifi-firmware Net_Applet did not display any available wifi networks.
I tried to remove the wifi configuration and set it upgain using Mageia Contol Panel but that did not work.
When I ran ifconfig it did not show my wlo1 interface.
ifconfig wlo1 up returned this message: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Input/output error
ip link set wlo1 up returned this message: RTNETLINK answers: Input/output error
After I uninstalled the newest version and reinstalled the earlier one wifi worked normally.
