Webdav Access

Webdav Access

Postby xboxboy » Jan 24th, '18, 14:20

Hi all, I'm sure I had this setup and working on an older install. I've tried from two different Mageia 6 Plasma installs with the same result.

Using MCC, I go to access webdav shares, where it requests to install a webdav package, ok.

I enter the webdav address.
But I'm unable to mount the share, I select /mnt/https from the drop down, but it wont allow me to mount. I check that /mnt/https exists, and it is owned by root.

At no stage has it asked for the user name or password. Am I missing something here?

TIA

[EDIT] I can connect via the network 'add network folder' in dolphin, so I can access it, I just can set it up through MCC.

No, I believe that issue is not fixed for MCC. See the recent report https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20821 (previously there was a different issue: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10540)

mmmm.... Thanks Doktor.

Ok, so let's just get it working, then I'll look at testing it in cauldron and getting a bug report going: If there's support for working on it.

So through Dolphin I can connect so my questions are:
1: Will this mean Dolphin adds it to fstab, so it's available across my system after rebooting?
2: I was able to connect with just my user name:
A: Shouldn't it require the password to the webdav share?
B: I 'think' I've connected previously prior to updating to plasma, maybe dolphin had stored/cached the password somewhere. How can I confirm if that's the case? Or is my webdav configured wrong, and I need to 'enable' password log in (although that seems very unlikely).

Here is how I connect my workstation to my nextcloud instance (located on my NAS, in the same subnet):

#! /bin/bash
sudo mount -t davfs2 https://192.168.2.27:12080/nextcloud/remote.php/webdav/ /home/jiml/owncloud -o rw,uid=jiml,gid=jiml

No it won't, it will only store it as a "bookmark" to the network:// kio slave and also to the places panel, at least that's how it worked under KDE4, and I don't think that changed.

Jim, how can that line be added to fstab, with auto mount and passwords? Is that possible?

So I can mount it manually with:
Code: Select all
mount -t davfs https://10.0.0.99/owncloud/remote.php/webdav /mnt/https

But the issue is, with a self signed certificate it asks if I want to accept it for this session. Which is means it doesn't mount via fstab or systemd.

I see various methods for making this work, what is the correct way? I believe it's download the certificate, and add it to some configuration file so it's accepted as trusted always.

You may want to take a look at
https://askubuntu.com/questions/488812/ ... user-input
which covers both automating that mount in the current state but also how to add the certificates for davfs2.
