[SOLVED] Unable to install RTL8192EU wifi..

Postby faisal144 » Mar 8th, '17, 17:43

Hi everyone..

I am testing out Mageia 5.1 <Mageia-5.1-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD> ISO as a local install on a 50 GB EXT4 SATA partition with a separate 6GB swap..

I have a TP-LINK TL-WN823N wifi adapter based on the Realtek RTL8192EU chipset..

Finally I was able to 'make && make install' the Mange repo on Github but only after installing the following dependencies:

    gcc-4.9.2-4.1.mga5.x86_64
    gcc-cpp-4.9.2-4.1.mga5.x86_64
    glibc-devel-2.20-23.mga5.x86_64
    kernel-desktop-devel-4.4.30-2.mga5-1-1.mga5.x86_64
    kernel-desktop-devel-latest-4.4.30-2.mga5.x86_64
    kernel-userspace-headers-4.4.30-2.mga5.x86_64
    lib64mpc3-1.0.2-4.mga5.x86_64
    lib64ncurses-devel-5.9-21.mga5.x86_64
    libstdc++-devel-4.9.2-4.1.mga5.x86_64
    make-4.0-6.mga5.x86_64'

The funny thing is 802.11 NIC is listed as a scanner in Mageia Control Center -- Hardware configuration tool..

Some logs you might need for a diagnosis:

[root@localhost ik]#

Never mind, I installed the latest Mageia 6 sta2 iso.. The RTL8192EU is correctly identified as a wifi adapter..

I guess when there are no one around to help out, its left to us to work it out.. isnẗ it??

Anyways managed to get it to work by blacklisting rtl8xxxu and adding 8192eu to modprobe.preload..

Marked this [SOLVED]..
