wifi problem with Mageia5

Postby olemadsen » Dec 28th, '15, 21:11

Solved I just installed Mag5 on a HP laptop in a dual boot configuration with win10. 64 bit, usb stick.
Everything (including the ethernet connection) appears to work fine, the exception being that I can not get the wifi to work. The hardware is detected fine, Broadcom Corp BCM 43142, but then it says: unable to find network interface for selected device (using bcma driver). What do I do?

I do not know if I use net_applet or NetworkManager. How can I tell? I use the KDE desktop.

Code: Select all
[ole@localhost ~]$ lspcidrake -v | grep -i -e net -e broad
r8169           : Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.|RTL8101/2/6E PCI Express Fast/Gigabit Ethernet controller [NETWORK_ETHERNET] (vendor:10ec device:8136 subv:103c subd:80b1) (rev: 07)
bcma            : Broadcom Corporation|BCM43142 802.11b/g/n [NETWORK_OTHER] (vendor:14e4 device:4365 subv:103c subd:804a) (rev: 01)
btusb           : Broadcom Corp|BCM43142A0 (vendor:0a5c device:216d)
[ole@localhost ~]$

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I did see the older thread but (I hate to admit it) it went over my head. I was hoping for something more simpleminded.
How do I blacklist something? What is the exact syntax? Sorry to be such a pain.
