Installing flash [Resoved]

Installing flash [Resoved]

Postby dwhite » Oct 25th, '15, 18:47

I had to do a clean install, because drak install says wrongly it can't read the SSD partition table because it's corrupted. Anyway I re-installed that went fine , but the software update wouldn't connect. Having re-booted I manually added software repositories In software management . tried to install flash but the prog says its not there.

software managent does not only check what's on the drive, but what is available via online repositories.
Not sure why you downloaded 4.1 when you want to install Mageia 5, but that is totally unrelated to flash.

And if you don't want to show what repos you currently have enabled, I'm afraid I can't help you further.
You need to enable the nonfree repos and then install flash-player-plugin.

Re: Installing lightspark flash

Postby dwhite » Oct 26th, '15, 23:58

I downloaded M4.1 fine put it on a USB stick but it wouldn't install, so I've I left well alone. Then I'd left Lightspark the alternate Flash in, actually because I forgot I installed it and it didn't seem to work.

Now I've got M5 and Lightspark must work, because things that need flash do.
All that trouble was due to the install program asking me to delete my partitions

I found that going direct to the Flash Site and they do a .rpm for other Linux distributions and that works.

Once more you ignored the fact that we have that exact package in our repos, as pointed out above. And you already had this in older threads:

IMHO, maybe you should really start to write down some things that are often installed.
