[SOLVED] Questions about firewall and Nepomuk

[SOLVED] Questions about firewall and Nepomuk

Postby hy » Jul 27th, '11, 19:40

Basically, i just need to know how to set up the firewall, as i've never done this before in any distro i've used before.
I need ethernet, torrents and wifi, so what do i tick and what do i leave un-checked?

and what steps do i take afterwards to activate the firewall?

and just so i can do this with only one post, is there any way to cure this error?

many thanks in advance, i have tried searching for solutions on this board, but found nothing so far.

You don't offer any services to the internet, so your fine right now.

Nepomuk? No idea yet, maybe someone else can assist you.

Advise: another topic for a new question works towards better results for you being answered, and others to find back answers.

Okay, i did a little search around the system.
Found in KDE System Settings probably the place where Nepomuk-backups can be configured.
So go: "Configure Your Desktop"-> "Desktop Search", and probably there you can change settings, to make the Nepomuk-error disappear.

I tried this and all it says is
'The Nepomuk installation is not complete. No nepomuk settings can be provided'

I checked in Software management, and saw that the annotation library and extras library are not currently installed - will add them and see what changes. (BTW, my installation is from the live CD of Mageia 1)

(apologies for adding this problem to an unrelated post - please move to relevant thread if that's possible)

All sorted now. There were libraries in the repository that were not installed from the live CD.
