Dansguardian/ Drakguard

Postby Brotherred » Jun 28th, '11, 00:24

I have had an issue with Drakguard for a long time. I am a new convert to Mageia from MDV 2010.2. I have a confirmed Mandriva bug that is now retired with the latest releases of MDV. How ever most if not all of the bug still exists here in Mageia. Here is the link for the now retired bug: https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=44609

As I see the issue with Drakguard/ Dansguardian in Mageia, I do see a "White Listing" tab for websites but it is grayed out in the UI. Also I do not see any "White List" option for programs.

As a result the users google home page is blocked and mp3s are a banned file extension. I know the reasons for these defaults but not having the option to customize and tweek these particulars is just silly.

So where is the bugzilla for Mageia? And this bug should be accepted right?

Regards,

Go to https://bugs.mageia.org/ for bug reports and yes from your description in the Mandriva bug report if the problem is carried over to Mageia it will be a valid bug report.

Don't hope for a fast fix as the developers here are all unpaid volunteers but they have their heart and free time in this new distro.

The bug is posted. And I hear ya on not waiting for a fast fix. But then if it does not die on the vine like in Mandriva, then that would be light speed.

FWIW, would be nice if you post a link to bug reports, so others can maybe follow it to.

Hello,

I am interested in parental control and I noticed this:

- You enable the control: the Blacklist tab activates and you can add sites to block access to, and the Whitelist tab is grayed. In short you can surf normally except at the sites of the blacklist.
- You check now "Block all network traffic": the Whitelist tab activates and you can now add sites and the Blacklist tab, in turn, becomes gray. In short, you can just surf on sites that appear in the white list.
I did the test with MLO:
- if I type this address: http://www.mageialinux-online.org/news/news.php, I could only access news and nothing else the site but if I type http://www.mageialinux-online.org/ then there would have access to the entire site.
The operation of Drakguard seems to me quite logical

PS : i'm french, excuse me for my bad english :)

Ok thank you for the advice and links. I see what you mean by the operation if the program in reference to websites. Though I would still consider the bug issue where there is not the option to white list programs.

Also as the Admin on this machine I see a possible conflict with Dansguardian and OneSwarm.
