[SOLVED] Mageia Linux browser problems

Postby Alltimeuser » Apr 4th, '14, 05:45

Hello,
I recently installed Mageia 4 from usb but when I did it I accidentally breezed through it and put the wrong time zone. After the install, I went to firefox and tried signing into google but this happened:

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to accounts.google.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?

Technical Details
accounts.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate will not be valid until 03/12/2014 02:54 AM. The current time is 03/03/2014 08:42 PM. (Error code: sec_error_expired_certificate)

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

I searched for the problem and found out that it had to do with a wrong system time and/or time zone so I went to fix mine to Los Angeles and set the system time correctly. But when I go back to firefox and try to load those websites they still don't load and come up with the same error. When I open chromium and type google it gives me this error:

Cannot connect to the real http://www.google.com
Something is currently interfering with your secure connection to http://www.google.com.
Try to reload this page in a few minutes or after switching to a new network. If you have recently connected to a new Wi-Fi network, finish logging in before reloading.
If you were to visit http://www.google.com right now, you might share private information with an attacker. To protect your privacy, Chrome will not load the page until it can establish a secure connection to the real http://www.google.com.

Any help?
Thx in advance

I went into the mageia control center > localization > manage date and time & manage localization.

The error message you show suggests you entered the wrong month as well as the wrong time zone. What do you get if you type
Code: Select all
date

in a terminal window?

Yep wrong date and stuff I just installled chrony and it fixed it for me. Thx a lot :D .
But there is another problem that I don't think is really big and doesn't deserve another topic. When I go to view a video in full screen such as a Youtube video, it will play very slowly. This is weird because I never had this problem before on any distribution. I suggest it could be something wrong with flash or my monitor since I set the driver to plug n play.

As a general hint and golden rule: Please only one problem per thread ;)
Please have a look at our MAQeia for flash player plugin: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=880
and maybe in viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5337

Please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [SOLVED], thanks
