[SOLVED] Mageia 3 autofs rpm x86-64?

Postby heymanj » Nov 25th, '13, 22:55

I'm trying to fit my Mageia 3 installation into an existing Fedora Core network where they are using automount / autofs to do the automounting of file systems. In the past, I've substituted Berkeley AMD to do automounting because autofs was problematic, but it has been *years* since I wrote a translator to handle the autofs -> amd format for the various files.

I've tried downloading/installing the Mageia 3 autofs rpm, but it appears that it no longer is available. Is that because autofs is *still* problematic? If so, can anyone point me to a quick way to translate the formats?

Thanks!

jerry

I think that it is:
Code: Select all
urpmq --sources autofs
/mirror/Mageia/distrib/3/x86_64/media/core/release/autofs-5.0.7-4.mga3.x86_64.rpm

What do you mean by problematic? We use it at work, and some customers use it for really huge environments with thousands of NFS and CIFS shares ...

doktor5000 - when I was a sysadmin, a previous life time ago, automount/autofs were flaky on almost every system we supported outside of Solaris. We decided to do use amd at that point because it was possible to recompile it for every OS (and subversion of each) we were supporting (aix, solaris, hp-ux, linux, sco openserver, sgi irix, sco unixware, ...).

I'm glad to see that there is good support now, and will install tomorrow at the office.

Many thanks!
