No WIFI with ‎RT2600 802.11 MIMO

Not sure. If I disable the wireless, it won't work again untill I reboot from a cold start. However the wireless first started working after disableing the wired connection (with the computer running) now it will only come on at reboot.
I can live with this but it seems that there is still something a little flaky. Or am I just paranoid?

it should work better.

do these steps:

- wifi enabled and working
- post latest log lines from /var/log/syslog
- wifi disabled
- post new log lines from /var/log/syslog
- wifi enabled (and no working)
- post new log lines from /var/log/syslog

it is important to see what the system logs when the wifi doesn't work,
so please keep the 3 log session separated

wifi enabled and working
Code: Select all
[greg@localhost ~]$ wifi enabled and working
bash: wifi: command not found
[greg@localhost ~]$ /var/log/syslog
bash: /var/log/syslog: Permission denied
[greg@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost greg]# /var/log/syslog
bash: /var/log/syslog: Permission denied
[root@localhost greg]# /var/log/syslog
bash: /var/log/syslog: Permission denied
[root@localhost greg]# /var/log/syslog
bash: /var/log/syslog: Permission denied
[root@localhost greg]#

now what? I was root and it won't let me look!?!

192.168.0.255

in your network there is a machine (or a router) with that ip,
but it is not valid (255 at the end is reserved).

there is no other error in what you posted,
so try to change that ip and retry;
if the problem persist post new lines with some other error from /var/log/syslog

I came home to find both installs (Fedora 17 and Megia 2) not connecting at all. I have reinstalled Megia after a compleate erase (just one pass). Now the wired is rock solid but the driver didn't install as it did the other time. Now what? Can I reopen the install page to set it up?
Also, I want to do the "shared" home with the fedora install when I put it back in. Where do I aim that question?

Howdy Folks,

yesterday I was posting my wifi problems but not in this thread.
Today I read about the Bug 5250 and discussion here.
So I canceled "networkmanager" restarted system without wired net and was really shocked
to see the green applet in panel!
Wifi is now working pretty well!

Now I want to introduce you to my system:
Mageia 2 with Xfce4 desktop, without gnomesupport!

Greetz’n’hugs

edit your first post and add [solved] in front of the subject
for windows problems reboot; for linux problems be root
