Problem with netfs.service

Problem with netfs.service

Postby cahingisore » May 26th, '12, 08:55

I used to use "/etc/rc.d/init.d/netfs restart" to restart the netfs service in mageia 1,
but now it give the following error:
Restarting netfs (via systemctl): Failed to issue method call: Unit netfs.service is masked

how to i "unmask" that service ?

(I use that command/service to get dolphin work again cause when other network-pc shutdown, dolphin crashed)

thanks in advance

What exactly do you want to restart with that one? What network shares do you have, is it NFS or Samba?

samba share. I shared other lan-pc disk with drakesambashare and mount it to my pc.
but when that lan-pc is shutted down my dolphin doesn't work anymore (hang/crash)

after googling around I found that I must restart the netfs service to get dolphin works
it works on mageia 1

netfs is no longer used under systemd and should be ignored.

systemctl restart remote-fs.target

should be roughly equivalent to what netfs used to do.

You should also make sure that any remote/network mount points defined in your fstab are clearly marked with "_netdev" option to make sure they are treated properly as remote mounts rather than local ones.
