[SOLVED] NetworkManager Applet

[SOLVED] NetworkManager Applet

Postby am2605 » Jan 27th, '12, 08:07

Hi,

I'm on Cauldron / GNOME 3 (fallback mode) and I'd like to replace the default network manager "thingy" with NetworkManager / nm-applet

I have managed to get nm-applet showing my in my panel, but I still have a couple of issues.

Firstly the old network applet is always loading, and I would like to know how to remove it.

Secondly, nm-applet reports "device not managed" for my wireless.

Is anyone able to help me get rid of the old networking applet, and get NM to work please? I believe I have all the necessary wifi drivers installed as I can see wireless networks in the old applet.

Regards,
Andrew.

You'd need to add/change an entry in the relevant /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg- file,
so that it says NM_CONTROLLED=yes somewhere. This can also be done if you reconfigure
any given interface from drakconnect.
If you don't want net_applet to start automatically, right-click it -> Settings -> and disable Always run at system start.

No problem :)
Now please just edit the subject of the first post and prefix it with [SOLVED] so the thread is visible to others as solved.
