Trying to connect to Anonine (se link) through VPN-PPTP

Postby jemt » Nov 20th, '11, 14:40

I'm trying to connect through Anonines server (PPTP), and for my help I'm using this guide: https://www.anonine.com/en/guides/linux_gui.

But I can't see where to begin in Mageia (Gnome).

If I rightclick on the net-icon beside the clock, I gett two options (Cisco VPN Concentrator & OpenVPN).
I have figured out that it's not OpenVPN.
Then I open Cisco VPN, and put in these value:
Gateway= vpn.anonine.net
username= xxxx
password= oooo

But I can't find anything about PPTP!?
So I can't connect...

Please, help me!

Edit:
Can I install Networkmanager, whit out messing whit the preinstalled manager for the network?

I have learnd more about this and installed networkmanager and support for PPTP.

I have configure it, but when I start it up, I gett rejected for there are no valid VPN-secret.
When I google it I find this tread in Ubuntu-forum http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=964255&highlight=vpn+intrepid who is saying that it is an bug in the keyring (but that's an old post).
So I leaved the password out and tryed to connect and entered the password when asked for it. But still I gett the same error, asking for an valid VPN-secret...

AAAAAH.... I'm getting mad!!!

Please, help!!!

Maybe you should also check https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497454
Can you connect to the vpn in question via a terminal and the vpnc command?

The version of Networkmanager that Mageia is offering to install is v.0.84
But the latest stable is v.0.9

If I want to install version 0.9, I can only install knetworkmanager who is for KDE.
Does that mean that I can't make it to work in Gnome (I'm useing Gnome)?

I'm hopeing that this bug(?) aint in v.0.9...

Alternativ I can download the latest version from there homepage http://projects.gnome.org/NetworkManager/?x=22, but I don't know how to install it.

So, can I install knetworkmanager (KDE-version) in Gnome and make it work?
What is the different whit KDE and Gnome-versions of the same program?
