Duplex printing in LibreOffice

I've been using Mageia since May of this year, and I have been highly impressed with the OS - except for one thing.

Well, actually the problem is with Libra Office. I can't get it to print documents in duplex. The duplex feature works for other applications just fine, but not in Libra Office. The odd thing is that I set duplex printing in Libra's printer setup, but when I print, it reverts to off.

My printer is an HP Photosmart 7515, and it prints in duplex fine from Firefox.

Any ideas why Libra office is balking?

I tried everything from the Libra Office link. The ignore option seems to change it to long edge okay. But when actually printing, it ALWAYS reverts to duplex off.

I hope someone can fix this.

FWIW, duplex printing from LibreOffice works fine with my Kyocera printer. So maybe something specific to the HP printer drivers?

doktor5000, you referred to my previous question which has been solved. It has nothing to do with this Libra Office question. And the reason is that my printer functions fine in duplex mode with other applications. In fact, on PCLOS using Open Office it worked in duplex. I checked to see if I could download and install Open Office into Mageia, but could not find it in your available packages. It must be a problem in Libra Office that keeps resetting its print setup. Once you do the setup, it should be retained.

Yes, understood that, but may still be worth checking.

Duplex printing and Libreoffice seems to be a common issue, most often the setting does not persist. Check the following links including some workarounds:

Found another one, pretty recent and specifically about HP printers: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67449

I looked there. It appears Libra considers it to be an HP problem. But I wonder if Open Office has the same problem. It is more than curious that everything else works - except Libra Office. The suggestion is to print as a PDF from Libra, then actually print from Okular which they say works.

I tried it. I can print to a PDF file from Libra, and then print in duplex from Okular. One more caveat; Okular also resets its duplex to off afterwards I noticed. It must be reset each time I want to print. Strange????

I don't consider this to be an answer to the problem. I hope a proper solution will be achieved.

I see that this problem has been around for over a year. Not good.

BTW, it's called Libre Office, not Libra.

Here are some more pointers:

Sorry. Sometimes I get lazy typing. I didn't mean anything by that. Oh, and it ends with "e", not "a". I'll try to be more accurate.

Printing is an issue that comes and goes during the years...
Duplex is one favourite.
Which part to blame is not easy to see.
And there is always the issue about firefox defaulting to letter after every upgrade (been like that for years)
Currently most including works on my workstation running cauldron.
Okular fails to print on second side on first sheet, but on next pages it prints duplex?? acroread 9.5 works OK.
There are currently more obscure problems i have on cauldron, i may post it in that forum instead soon...
Sorry for not being constructive. I am just tired and trying to push out part of my bookkeeping...
