PIXMA iP-4850 (Solved)

I've only just recently decided to try Linux as an operating system. So far I'm very impressed, but I cannot get the above printer to work,. Mageia won't automatically recognise it, and after a lot of searching I found a file (cnij-ip4800series-3.40.x86_64) which, I'm told, is generic to this printer. After downloading, I opened the file in Dolphin and opened it with software installer, and got the following message.

Some requested packages cannot be installed
cnij-ip4800series-3.40.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied libtiff.so.3()
(64 bit)
Continue installation anyway?

Clicking 'Ok' does not install, it all goes away!

Where do I go from here?

For the driver installation, David explained this e.g. via viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2800 and for a similar printer in viewtopic.php?f=24&t=905
Maybe also viewtopic.php?p=47702#p47702

You should also be able to install it with the MCC, and then select one of the gutenprint drivers for it.

Which driver did you select, or what did you do - for others who got the same problem?
