No problem, will take a look to rebuild it for i586 - if iurt doesn't fail again this time.
But you can try that for yourself. It's exṕlained here: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5530
Here's the src.rpm:
c2esp-2.6-1.mga4.src.rpm
(128.45 KiB) Downloaded 225 times

Downloaded it, opened it in Ark, at that point I was lost, I was at the same point as I was before. I really am clueless, I don't understand the instructions, I did the urpmi thing as root and was told it couldn't find the file even though I was in the download directory, and I had no idea where to go or how to tell it to get there. In ordinary Konsole the rpmi command isn't recognised; so I thought I'd better stop before I crashed the system. You must remember I really am seven kinds of stupid when dealing with instructions...

hi

If you havent worked out how to install the file Doktor5000 provided try this
Download the file if you havent already.
Right click on the file - do not open with Ark.
next line under " Ark " is ' Software installer '.
click on this line:
softwareinst.png

you will then get a dialogue box:

click install and enter root password at the prompt, and then accept package installation dependencies if required.

If you plug the printer in, then go to Mageia Control Center, => Hardware tab / configure printer and scanning should get you up and running

Thanks for that benmc, but as my neighbour knows even less than I do, I decided to go with Zorin8, as it has the most Windows-like interface so she would not find the environment too strange.
