[DONE] Mageia 4 HP Printer Problem

Postby paulcbrennan2001 » Feb 4th, '14, 15:19

I have done an online upgrade from Mageia 3 to 4. I am now having trouble with my networked HP Multi-function printer. It worked fine with Mageia 3 and still works fine with Windows machines on the network. In Mageia 4 the scanner works and it will print a test page but it will not print anything else. I have deleted and re-installed hplip and have deleted and re-installed the printer to no avail. I am not technical so I haven't a clue what else to do. Please can anybody help.

Many thanks.

How is it connected to your box?
Please post the output of
Code: Select all
hp-doctor
when run as normal user in a terminal here, and please use code tags as explained in ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/linux/mandriva/m ... e_tags.ogv

Re: Mageia 4 HP Printer Problem

Postby doktor5000 » Feb 4th, '14, 20:21

Weird that quite some runtime dependencies are missing ... :/
Apart from that I don't see any issues, plugin is installed, queue is configured, permissions are OK.
Please show the output as root of
Code: Select all
systemctl status cups

So you say that scanning works without issues, but printing does not (apart from test page)? From where do you print the test page?

I have a HP 2605dn Laserjet. I have exactly the same problem. The only thing I can print is a self-test page. It printed fine under Mageia 3.

Does it help when you run hp-setup and go through that wizard?

Please also run
Code: Select all
hp-diagnose_queues
and post the output here.

Can you run the following command as root in a terminal and leave it running, then print another test page, wait a minute or so and copy the whole output from terminal here?
Code: Select all
journalctl -af

You can stop that command afterwards via Ctrl+C

This seems to be the issue. Not sure how to debug this further. You could have a look at http://hplipopensource.com/node/224 but best report that upstream, have a look at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/support.html (Report a bug link).

Decided to add a standard HP injet printer via USB which works fine. At least I can print now, just use the LaserJet to scan for the time being. I may even think about doing a clean install as am sure some elements of the Mageia 3 installation of the LaserJet did not get removed (2 job ques?).

Thanks for your time anyway.
