[SOLVED] Samsung ML-1915 - landscape orientation

[SOLVED] Samsung ML-1915 - landscape orientation

Postby fonon » Nov 16th, '13, 18:57

I have Samsung ML-1915 laser printer. It works with Samsung's "universal printer driver". Some applications allow to set "printer language" option in printer settings (PDF or postscript). When "pdf" (default) is selected the printer doesn't print in landscape orientation (all prints are portrait - doesn't matter what is set in printer options; some parts of print are out of paper). When "PostScript" is set - the printer works properly with both paper orientations. Unfortunately some applications (e.g. Firefox) do not allow to set this option (it isn't present in dialog window). Where can I set printer language for all application as default setting?

PS. Mageia 3 64-bit

You did not specify your desktop, but if you are using KDE, you should be able to set it with the printer applet which is found under tools/system tools, or invoked from the command line as system-config-printer. I would expect many applications to override the defaults you set, though. No idea if Firefox will do that or not.

I'm using KDE. Unfortunately, both - the printer applet under tools/system tools and Samsung Unified Driver Configurator don't contain this feature (or I can't find it).

The feature is there under "job options".

Unfortunately, not in my case. Could you specify full path? Can I add this option?

New driver by Samsung (1.00.06/11.11.2013) is probably ok.

What do you mean by probably ok? Does the problem still persist?

The driver requires testing for some time.
