Canon MX420 Scanner mode

Postby mustelide » Oct 17th, '13, 10:23

Hello all,

I've a printer/scanner Canon MX420 plugged to a switch. I've use the assistant for the printer, but, fot the scanner, it don't find it.
I've the drivers (downloaded from canon site), but I don't know how to install them. I've an archive called scangearmp-mx420series-1.70-1-rpm.tar.gz, if I extract it, I will have a folder with a install.sh inside.
How can I install it properly, if possible by using this rpm

Thank's a lot

Please next time use code tags as explained in ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/linux/mandriva/m ... e_tags.ogv

Scangearmp is a program that runs from Konsole (aka Terminal) after you install the scangearmp rpm file. You might need to run it as root. When you start scangearmp from terminal, it launches a GUI app for scanning.

You might also find the following helpful (or confusing) :P

Hello all

Sorry for the delay, nights works these days.
I've try a lot of thing, but nothing works, impossible to get this scanner by the ethernet. (for info, scanner of this printer can only be connected by usb)
For my secondary pc, I've reinstalled a Debian SID, no dependance and no lib missing during installation of these drivers (as the old one before)
Code: Select all

----------------   Debian logs ------------

So what is missing? Why Debian find the scanner plugged in ethernet and not Mageia?
For scangearmp (launch in console), i don't need to be root, I can use the scanner on my Debian without problems.

Any idea on this will be hepful

Debian powaaaaa?
