Setting up Canon MG 2200 printer

Setting up Canon MG 2200 printer

Postby drew77 » Sep 11th, '13, 23:38

I just installed Mageia to a DVD.

I want to try Mageia out because another distro did not support my Canon MG 2200 printer.

I felt like I should not have to buy another printer because of lack of drivers. etc.

As of now, I can not print.

I am pretty competent with OpenSuse.

I could not find a hardware info program.

Thanks.

You might try the Canon Linux driver:

Try Mageia Control Centre:
https://doc.mageia.org/mcc/3/en/content ... dware.html
There should be a link in the panel. It is also in the Menu under tools/system tools.

Although I use a different model Canon printer, you may find the following threads helpful.

I appreciate all the responses.

I have most of the hardware working in several versions of Linux, but the printer has used a ton of hours.

If a goal of this o.s. is to attract Windows users, there needs to be a GUI install of the printer.

And I realize the amount of work involved.
I program in 32 bit assembly for Windows.

And mine is not an old printer.

I got the printer going as well as it's scanner function.

Thanks for all your help.

I have been trying to get my Linux capable USB modem setup so I can dial out to an ISP.

My wireless ISP is down on occasional or more and I have to use my plain old telephone.

I have Qinternet installed but Yast2 says it is not configured. ??

I entered the provider's number to dial and went with the default modem commands.

openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64)
VERSION = 12.3 x86_32 CODENAME = Dartmouth
4 Gb RAM

Distant 2nd :-)

32 bit Assembly -- When you need to get to bare metal. :-)
