I tried to install the drivers from the Brother web site for this HL-2270DW but got an error in terminal.

[-----@localhost ~]$ rpm -Uvh cupswrapperHL2270DW-2.0.4-2.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
hl2270dwlpr is needed by cupswrapperHL2270DW-2.0.4-2.i386

[-----@localhost ~]$ rpm -Uvh hl2270dwlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.rpm
error: can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/__db.000 (Permission denied

I don't know how to proceed now. I read the other thread regarding this printer but didn't see anything that seemed to be helpful in my case.

The only thing I can think of is maybe I'm supposed to be doing this as root. But I don't have a clue how to log into Mageia3-64 as root.

When I go into control center, it gives me the option to add a printer. I do that and select Brother from the next screen. It then gives a long list of brother printers but it skips all of the 2000 series.

Ok, I've made a lot of progress and managed to figure out how to install the two rpm's successfully. All that remains is to test the printer which I will do when I have something to print. It should work, however.
