Where are the hpijs ppd's?

Where are the hpijs ppd's?

Postby roadrunner » Jun 2nd, '11, 15:14

Just installed Mageia 1 32-bit - very smooth and very quick - congrats to all those involved :D

However, for duplex printing to work correctly with my HP Officejet Pro 8000, I need the hpijs ppd but I can't find it. According to the filelist for the hplip-hpijs-ppds package, it's supposed to be in /usr/share/ppd/HP but the .gz archive for my printer in /usr/share/ppd/HP contains the hpcups ppd, which is no good.

Until I can find the hpijs ppd, I've done a workaround by "stealing" the hpijs ppd from another distro :o

So, where are the hpijs ppd's please.

Welcome to the Mageia-forum!!!

Probably you are in need for: hplip-hpijs-ppds
Just install through Mageia Control Centre -> Software Management -> Install/Remove Software.
Check that you search in ALL packages and not just in "Packages with GUI".

Checked quickly into my own machine, and found:

hp-officejet_pro_8000_a809.ppd.gz contains the PPD file for HP Officejet Pro 8000 a809 with CUPS.

Yes but what does the *FileVersion: line say.

Here's the first six lines from the original Mageia hpcups ppd:
Code: Select all
*PPD-Adobe: "4.3"
*% PPD file for HP Officejet Pro 8000 a809 with CUPS.
*% Created by the CUPS PPD Compiler v1.2.3.
*% (c) 2008 Copyright Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP
*FormatVersion: "4.3"
*FileVersion: "hpcups 3.11.3a"

Here's the first six lines from the hpijs ppd which I "stole" from another distro:
Code: Select all
*PPD-Adobe: "4.3"
*%%%% PPD file for HP Officejet Pro 8000 a809 hpijs with CUPS.
*%%%% Created by the CUPS PPD Compiler CUPS v1.4.6.
*% (c) 2004-2008 Copyright Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP
*FormatVersion: "4.3"
*FileVersion: "hpijs 3.11.3a"

Duplex printing works correctly with the second one but it doesn't work correctly with the first one.

And what is the difference with this one? (hp-officejet_pro_8000_enterprise_a811a-ps.ppd)
Or just some completely different kind of printer?

Code: Select all
*%%%% Created by the CUPS PPD Compiler CUPS v1.5svn.
*% (c) Copyright 2010 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
*FormatVersion: "4.3"
*FileVersion: "17.4"
*LanguageVersion: English
*LanguageEncoding: ISOLatin1
*PCFileName: "HPP00006.PPD"
*Product: "(HP Officejet Pro 8000 A811a)"
*Product: "(Officejet Pro 8000 A811a)"
*Product: "(HP Officejet Pro 8000 Enterprise A811a)"
*Product: "(Officejet Pro 8000 Enterprise A811a)"
*Manufacturer: "HP"
