recommended scanners?

Greetings to all,

I was wondering whether anyone can recommend a relatively low-cost scanner that will work easily on Mageia. I have an old Benq5000 scanner, and have so far not managed to find a way to make it work. But I'm not an advanced user, so am thinking of getting a new scanner that will work without too much hassle.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

No recommendation, but more or less an advise.
At least you want to have your scanner Linux-compatible.

I suppose it's worth adding another question: is it better to go for a scanner that connects to the router (i.e., a network scanner) or one that connects direct to the machine on which I'm running Mandriva?

Or go for a scanner that has drivers for Linux.
(I'm happy with my Brother all-in-one printer [DCP925DW])
