Brothers own HL2150N driver doesn´ t function well

Postby wimedel » Apr 2nd, '12, 21:50

I have a Brother HL2150N laserjet printer (network). I used the drivers provided by Brother:
brhl2150nlpr-2.0.2-1.i386.rpm
cupswrapperHL2150N-2.0.2-1.i386.rpm
Until somedays ago printing went excellent. But last days I experience problems: Printing from some applications ends with an error of the printer. This happens for instance with Libreoffice, Okular, Kwrite.
With other applications there are no problems: printing webpages from Chromium or Firefox, Gedit and even with Word running on Wine.
As far as I can see, the problems show themselves in the same way on different installations, all with Mageia 1 (i586, x86_64, and with KDE and Gnome).
I suppose that it has something to do with an update.
I found a solution by using an HL2140 driver, but I am rather curious wether other people experience the same problems and what the cause of them may be.

Please attach your /var/log/cups/error_log (you may have to add a .txt ending to be able to upload it here)
