Canon LBP2900

Hello everybody,

Well, I've installed my printer, it's quite ok. But I have one strange thing, when I try to connect printer via USB port I have error message like this 'Check your communication, Is the printer turned on' and so on. But when I unplug my usb mouse firstly and then connect printer's cable I have no problem with printer communication :) Could somebody tell me what's going wrong?

Where do you get the error message? Further on this, please open up a terminal, and as root run the following:
Code: Select all
tailf /var/log/messages

then wait some seconds and plugin your printer and post the resulting output here.
Best do it two times, one time with the mouse when you get that error message and next time without.

I connected my printer with mouse and get this message

Mar 1 22:47:49 localhost kernel: usb 2-3: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usblp while 'usb' sets config #1

Then I unplugged my mouse and get working printer and this one
Mar 1 22:51:48 localhost kernel: usb 2-3: New USB device found, idVendor=04a9, idProduct=2676
    Mar 1 22:51:48 localhost kernel: usb 2-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

    Mar 1 22:51:48 localhost mtp-probe: checking bus 2, device 8: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb2/2-3"
Mar 1 22:51:48 localhost mtp-probe: bus: 2, device: 8 was not an MTP device
Mar 1 22:51:50 localhost kernel: usb 2-3: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usblp while 'usb' sets config #1
Mar 1 22:51:50 localhost udev-configure-printer: no corresponding CUPS device found

P.S. You asked me how did I get error messages, captstatusui -P. After printer connection I use that and check printer status. And, by the way, after I get working printer I can plug and unplug printer's usb and it's work. The taking off mouse's usb before you connect printer works like reset for him :)
