Mageia 9 printer can not connect with PC

Sorrry, I am jumping to conclusions I should have a separate thread. Can I move some of these posts to a new thread?
The printer was working so well without involving CUPS at all. It was a case of the printer being connected by a cable.
In hunting, I found an entirely different possible cause: the computer and the printer cannot see each other on the network. This was a problem on Windows, but the same issue has arisen on "Ask Ubuntu":
