No Epson scanner after Mageia 7 fresh install

To my disappointment and in addition to many other difficulties popped up after upgrading Mageia 6 to 7, the perfectly functioning Epson V300 scanned does not respond any more after Mageia 7 fresh install.
I did follow the instructions on my previous post re: Epson scanner, yet, I did not have any success .
I'll appreciate any help

But you don't mention what you did until now in particular and we should try to guess that ?
So you followed viewtopic.php?p=45354#p45354 - which of those packages did you install until now ?
FWIW, you can still check the mentioned wiki page in the page history: https://wiki.mageia.org/mw-en/index.php ... ldid=17574

The link pointed and explain how to install Epson V370 . Yet mine is V300 perfection.
Here is what I tried before posing this reply:

The System consists of
Mageia 7 fresh install on top of fresh install of windows 7 , Plasma DT.
Added Cinnamon DT : urpmi task-cinnamon
System behave normally

Trying to install the scanner using MCC

1. While the scanner is connected and "on" I rebooted the computer
2. Openned MCC > hardware > Set up scanner .
3. "Yes" to the question :"Do you want to install the SANE packages?
4. Message: "The following scanner
- Epson flatbed scanner
is available on your system."

5. Quit MCC hardware

6. Menue> Graphics> XSane-Scanning
7. Message Header is "xsnae 0.999" "Scanning for devices"
8. 4 windows opened: xsane 0.999:003, Preview:003, Standard options : 003 , Histogram : 003
9. Pressed "Acquire preview" on the Preview :003 window.
10. Message: "Failed to start scanner: Invalid argument".
11. Closed all opened windows

Tried Simple scan
12. Menue> Graphics> Simple scan > Simple scan window opened.
13. Pressed Scan button on the top left window: Message "Contacting scanner" for ~ 3 minutes than got a message :"Failed to scan. Unable to start scan"

MCC > Browse an configure hardware > Scanner >
EPSON Scanner > Vendor ID:0x04b8 > Device ID: 0x0131

At this point I did not proceed with instruction suggested on my previuos post

Apparently Mageia 7 is not mature enough vis a vis scanner installation

Please advice

Yes, that's probably what the issue is

Can you post the output as root of
Code: Select all
scanimage -L
sane-find-scanner -v

If you run xsane or simple-scan as root, is it the same error ?

xsane as root results in the following message:
You try to run XSane as ROOT, that really is DANGEROUS!

I pressed
"Continue at your own risk

After a while the Xsane windows opened where I selected Epson and pressed OK
The 4 Xsane windows opened as attached
I than pressed
Scan

Resulting in the following error message
Failed to start scanner: Invalid argument

Where do I have to go from here??

Further to my previous post , on the root terminal typed
simple-scan

A message
dconf-WARNING **: 09:16:19.816: failed to commit changes to dconf: The connection is closed

and the attached window appeared
I pressed the top left scan button and got the message:
Failed to scan
Unable to start scan

Here is where I am stuck

I'll appreciate if one can guide me as to how to remove all previous files and/or packages related to Epson scanner install so that I'll be able to start new scanner setup from scratch?
