[SOLVED] Wrong framing on HP LaserJet printer

[SOLVED] Wrong framing on HP LaserJet printer

Postby mystere88 » Sep 22nd, '11, 05:30

I have in my office a HP LaserJet P2055dn and it works perfectly till now. Just since one week (after some updates ??),
the printed frame is shifted to the top (as top margin =0, or even a negative value) while leaving then a big margin on the bottom
of the paper. This happens for Firefox, for Acroread, Okular (pdfs)... almost in all cases.

I remove, then re-installed the printer (using Mageia CC): still the same problem.. Checked the options of the printer.
By the way, the test page is ok.

What's wrong then ? :|
Code: Select all
Device URI:   hp:/net/HP_LaserJet_P2055dn?ip=147.8.212.155

There are 3 similar PPDs for your printers series, which one are you using:
Code: Select all
[doktor5000@mageia1 x86_64]$ rpm -ql hplip-hpijs-ppds | grep 2055
/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_p2055-pcl3.ppd.gz
/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_p2055_series-ps.ppd.gz
/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_p2055d-pcl3.ppd.gz
/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_p2055dn-pcl3.ppd.gz
/usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_p2055x-pcl3.ppd.gz

The driver was (shown on the Printer Properties screen)
Code: Select all
Mark and Model: HP LaserJet p2055dn pcl3, hpcups 3.11.7

So I changed it to
Code: Select all
Mark and Model:   HP LaserJet P2055 Postscript (recommended)

Then, Great :D no more problem!

I selected the wrong one during the install the proposed model "p2055dn" looks
as the mine, and did not know it is a "pcl3" driver behind...

Thank you for help. Long life to Mageia
