Hey Community...

to introduce...i´m an "oldschool" Mandrake User, i started with that system..after the "downfall"..i came across PCLOS..then i got in touch with mageia, first time was number 3...but after installation...the system-config-printer stuff didn´ t work...so i thought to give the system a further chance...that was now..with version 5.1

First of all...i like it a lot (i also liked it in version 3) not to get emotional, but somehow it feels like home...

but there is one small problem, due to the printer/scanner thing...
i need to say that i use linux now for more than a decade..but i never dived into that system that much, it was from the first time just an alternative to get rid off windoze...so more or less i´m still a bit better newbie

i have an Epson Stylus DX 4050...a Combi-Machine...Printer-Scanner-Copier ..so with Mageia 5.1 the sysconfig..etc. installation worked...but it couldn´ t find my one..the only thing i got was an DX 3850..with that driver the printer works fine in b/w also the scanner, but if i switch to coloured, the clours are mixed up in a crazy way...

so, if i do livecds i.e. mint or something...the device is recognized out of the box and works...so my question is, how can i update the sane database, especially for the scanner..or how can i update mageia itself to recognize the device fully?

The closest thing I could find in the database is a DX 4000. That driver should work with the 4050

At the end:

Drivers are available from this page [http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX]. When indicated, you must install the iscan-data package first, then iscan (in this order). It is possible that the iscan package will generate a warning about a conflict with sane. Users have reported that this warning can be ignored.

Before installing the Epson packages, remove the Mageia sane-backends-iscan package. Doing so should avoid conflicts.
