Problem with printing with unwanted blue background

Postby dglent » Oct 8th, '15, 07:01

When i print in a pdf file from a qt browser (konqueror, qupzilla), the output is correct but when i print it it has a blue background.

I'd like to ask if anyone has any clue about this.

The pdf is displayed normaly:

The printer prints a big blue frame in the background:

I don't have this problem when creating and printing the pdf from firefox
I have the problem when printing directly from qupzilla and i don't have it from firefox...

So in Firefox you probably use the print-to-file functionality?

And what do you print in particular? A complete webpage, or only a selection?
E.g. in calligra the selection frame would also be printed: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337114 for some older versions.

I've just tried with qupzilla to print to PDF the homepage https://github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/wiki and there's no blue background in the PDF,
but unfortunately I've not got a printer to test. Your problem seems to be in QPrinter from what I can tell: https://wiki.qt.io/Handling_PDF

Thanks for the reply, no i don't print a selected frame, but the whole page.
If i print in a pdf file, when i open the pdf i don't see any blue frame but when i print it i see it.
If i print in pdf from firefox it is ok when i prinf the file
The same without pdf, if i print directly from the browser.

As it works ok with firefox i can print from it, only a few times i forgot it and i printed blue pages.

This is maybe related but it is about MAC OS:

Could really be an issue with qprinter. Firefox does use its own functionality for printing to PDF.
If you print from the Qt programs directly, no problem. Only when printing a pdf created by one of the Qt programs.
So more then one Qt program is affected.

Maybe create a bugreport upstream at Qt ?

Florian, if you find some time, i thought if you tried to print my pdf:
https://bugreports.qt.io/secure/attachm ... _print.pdf
normally you should be able to reproduce it, if not, my printer --HP-Photosmart-5520-series-- ? or my print system (cups ...) ?

I have the same problem. Many of my printouts look like your sample - partial page of white (correct) background then the rest of the page is blue background. I run Magiea 5, fully current, on 1 desktop and 3 laptops (various makes). Printers are hp 7510, hp 4410, hp 4310, and another small hp (pulling the model numbers from my head so may not be right). All the printers do the same thing regardless of which computer is printing to them. I use Chrome and know it happens often when printing emails. Also when printing Google maps. haven't tried other browser but will now. This problem has been around for quite a while (certainly back to Magiea 3, but I don't believe it is a linux problem as lots of others are having the same issue. Sure makes for expensive printing. Anyone found a fix? I tend to change my print settings from color to black only greyscale.
