[SOLVED] HP_Color_LaserJet_CM1017 all-in-one scanner plugin

Trying to set up my Hewlett-Packard HP_Color_LaserJet_CM1017 all-in-one printer. Got the printer working and could print out a test page. But it seems I need a plugin to get the scanner working. On the HP site Mageia is not listed as a distribution for which they have a plugin. If I select Mandriva they say that it is already in the distribution. If I bring up the HP Device Manager, there is a line that says Install Required Plugin but clicking on that line doesn't seem to do anything. Any ideas?

Ok, saw the messages about installing the plugin as root and that did the trick.

Can you please run

hp-plugin -g

as root in a terminal and post the output here? It should install the plugin.
It would also be helpful to do the same with hp-setup -g and then click on the menu item where you said it doesn't do anything, and watch the output in the terminal, if there are some errors, and post them here.
