[SOLVED] OKI MFP MB260

[SOLVED] OKI MFP MB260

Postby dyfi » May 24th, '12, 08:23

Currently downloading Mageia2 to install.

My printer/scanner is OKI MFP MB260. It has linux drivers supplied in packages on the provided CD. These packages are for Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat, Suse, Fedora.

Red Hat, Suse, Fedora are all rpm operating systems.

Would anyone know how to make one of these rpm packages suitable for Mageia?

Thanks in advance.

Dyfi.

The Fedora ones should be OK so far. But adapting binary packages is not that easy. Normally you'd install it,
adjust the files and configuration as needed, maybe move files to their correspondent locations on Mageia and then do an rpm --repackage on that package,
but seems this option has already been removed long ago during Mandriva times ...

You can only install it and manually adapt/move files if needed. But did you try if the Fedora packages work?

Thanks for the reply.

I will give the Fedora package a try.

I do have an older printer/scanner available which will work OK on Mageia so problem is not crictical.

Fedora installed OK. Had to run the install as gksu and also install libpng3-1.2.43.

Thanks again for your help.
