For those having problems ,especially on HDMI hook-ups and new ATI vid cards check out this link. It easily fixed my screen underscaling problem and Mageia saved the setting on re-boot. After three hours of hunting and fumbling around I'm one happy camper. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AMD_Catalyst That would be under troubleshooting section 6.16.

mmm, Never knew ATI had made any new cards

Personally only had this issue on TV's .

This is where I've done it before on AMD cards

Side note:

Most monitors/TV's have an option in their respective menus to sort it.

My bad on the reference, this is an XFX Radeon R7 240 card and when going into Catalyst it showed the same screen but for some odd reason the options were grayed out and didn't allow for adjusting even with the latest update so I had to resort to the methods found in the referenced link above. After set-up though everything appears to function fine, go figure. Maybe it's the dual boot system with Windows 7. Pair anything with Windows and eventually something will goof up, however it's usually in Windows for me.

Ive experienced the same on nvidia cards, and yesterday had an issue with a GT610

up until yesterday i thought it was limited to gtx2xx versions

ive seen this with samsung 650 32 inch TV's and LG 32 inch TV's both full HD

ive not seen this with what you would call dedicated computer monitors.
