Hello, I have been trying to find out why the mageia 4 I am running on windows comes out way to huge. I keep editing the graphic settings and dimensions but the
window always stays exactly the same when hitting test. Basically, I have two scroll bars for vertical to horizontal if I want to move around the desktop

You mean test as in here: http://doc.mageia.org/mcc/4/en/content/XFdrake.html ?
That's not representative. Set the monitor to Plug&Play, save your settings and reboot. Then when your Mageia VM has booted, please show the output of

Code: Select all
xrandr -q
grep -i driver /var/log/Xorg.0.log
lspcidrake -v | grep VGA

I have deployed several Mageia 4 VMs in vmware Workstation and have been bitten by this every time.

What you need to do is go into the KDE control center, and change the display size to something that fits your window size better. Then, BEFORE you reboot, make sure you have the compiler environment (including kernel sources) installed, and install vmware tools. After that, you will find your installation to be tamed.
