Hey. Week trying to get the video to work Aspeed AST 2050. acquaintance bought a server and want them to install Mageia 4.

The problem is that no xorg starts. Tried many ways. Corrected xorg.conf, removed it, but nothing helped.

Ast module in the system is. Downloaded party for different versions of xorg. The result is negative.

Seems it could be necessary to update the firmware of that chip using windows: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1420578

Could also be that you need a newer version of the driver. It's available here: ftp://x.org/pub/individual/driver/xf86- ... 9.9.tar.gz

Can you please attach the full /var/log/Xorg.0.log? And have you already tried to select ast driver via drakx11 now after installation?

I tried to test the external video card Nvidia 8400GS with her Mageia start. But I can not put it all on the server, as I have it all one. Just tried to put ubuntu, centos and archlinux and there problems with video ast not.

First log clearly shows it's using framebuffer driver (fbdev) and not ast. Also you didn't mention the result for that log - no video, working video, something else ... ?
Apart from that I didn't understand what you mean by external graphic card. I thought you wanted to get video output via that Aspeed chip working?

For the second log, it's more clear now - another driver already claims the card, you need to blacklist that driver, but you need to find out what driver that is.

You could try to blacklist the cirrus module. And also check your kernel boot option, maybe you need to disable kernel modesetting or something like that.

will show you your current kernel boot options. You could also try to use xdriver=ast as kernel boot option to try to force that driver.

And for understanding - this is a normal Mageia 4 installation direcly on the hardware, not inside some qemu or kvm or some other virtualisation?

Yes. I need to run ast driver. Absolutely. I just tried to check and external video card (check to see whether the problem with drivers ast and this starts the xorg. Sake of the test)

No. This is a real iron. The plan to use them as servers in a small office. Particularly anxious to Mageia. Since there is no problems with the network card.

This pro What You? I added cirrus in /etc/blacklist and added in GRUB xdriver=ast
Nothing does not help. No wants Mageia work with ast video.
