First:
Mageia 4 fresh install from DVD iso verified on HP NC6000 laptop, graphic chip is
ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 Pro RV350 M10
It was ok with Mandriva before.
Now with Mageia 4, the best I can have upon X startup is the display of the cursor with the blue dots blinking arround (the waiting cursor), for one second, and then X stops and I'm back to console (or to nothing, black screen, is booted to runlevel 5).
I've read 15-ish forum threads of people have problems with Xorg and this ATI RV350, tried the tricks that solved the problem for some of them, it didn't worked for me.
(For instance the agp mode setting, on kernel param, on module conf, or in xorg.conf. Other options too. Runlevel 3 is fine as long as I dont startx)
So I gave up, I think I'll try some other distro for this laptop, or maybe go back to an old Mandriva.
This post is my last attempt, I won't cry here and bother you, I'm posting just in case I've missed something.
