Vlc and Redshift

Hi there forum! Well I used to install Mageia on my laptop from the Gnome DVD. It used to work great:) I could find all the software I needed, until today! I installed the Mageia Full DVD and the thing is that the Software Centre doesn't show the vlc or the Redshift applications on the search results. Why is that??

Another thing. Apart from that whenever I try to install a package I get a message " Please insert Mageia medium ".

You need to set up your online package media. When installing from a LiveCD this is done automagical, not with the installer DVD.

1. Open the Mageia Control Center -> Software Management
2. Open "Configure media sources for install and update"
3. remove the mark in the first column before the the entry of your DVD.
4. Click on "Add" - in the now opening box choose the "Full set of sources" (you need a working internet connection for this!)

After all hdlists are downloaded you will see a list of all media, only core and non-free are marked. If you want to use tainted then mark them as Enabled.

Now close this by clicking on OK

Open "Install & remove software" and set the first dropdown filter on the left side to "All" to see all available packages.

Again... another problem... I decided to watch a movie with vlc. I inserted the dvd but vlc didn't play it. So, I had to install libdvdcss.rpm. Hopefully it worked. How was that supposed to be solved hadn't I downloaded the package from the net?

You would have asked here? For VLC there is no support of automatic installation of packages, AFAIK.

libdvdcss is illegal to use in certain countries so residents in such countries may not want to use it. That's why it can not be a part of an automatic installation (like a dependency of thre normal vlc or normal mplayer).
It should be a dependency of the "tainted" versions of vlc and mplayer, though.

It should rather be a Suggests ;)
Any volunteers for the bugreport?
