Radeon driver seems to run better than fglrx now

Postby VoodooDali » May 3rd, '14, 20:27

The open source "radeon" driver, with Dynamic Power Management enabled, and *especially* with the DPM widget installed, is running so much cooler on my laptop.

Meanwhile the nonfree fglrx driver still has problems with fullscreen video on YouTube, WatchESPN and just about every other place I watch video. Hm.

Seriously thinking of just removing fglrx and everything to do with it. Why have it taking up space?

Just a dumb question - what's the DPM widget?

QML widget for controlling Dynamic Power Management. Takes some rc.local editing to make it work, but not particularly difficult.
