Does anybody tested cheap USB DVB-T tuner with M3? I want to use such one during my trips, but I dont know which one is supported by M3. I dont need remote control or any special extras. Just plug and watch TV program using my laptop. Any detail about manufacturer, link to such unit?

from a generic linux point of view
most of the requirements for support come in two parts, for dvb anything.

kernel driver, and firmware.

now the kernel will undoubtly have some dvb chipsets in it.

however mageia or any linux may not be able to distribute the vendors firmware.

you can usually extract this from the windows driver CD that comes with the card, or maybe the chip vendors site.

http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T_USB_Devices

lists linux supported devices, so that may help here.

then its which application you choose to use, with it.

mplayer and xine usually have some good dvb support.

there may be others.

Im only speaking from experience of pci cards, but im sure the principles the same.

regards peter

No, I use current kernel included as default in ordinary distribution and repo updates.
