Postby jcbaena » Jun 4th, '11, 15:48

I want to install nvidia driver. I go to hardware-config graphin server and double click on nvidia. Mageia installs propietary driver but it doesn't work.

Ocurrió un error:
(EE) NVIDIA: Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module. Please check your
(EE) NVIDIA: system's kernel log for additional error messages.

How do i must install/config nvidia driver?

I have try a
#service dm restart

But, ...nvidia continues not working.

i have nvidia 7100 card

I'm not all that knowledgable and you may have already checked on this, so I apologize if you did. It is my understanding that for the NVIDIA module to be loaded it needs to be created, I believe. In Mandriva this would require that you also have dkms and the source for the kernel version you are using, then on boot the module will be built by dkms using the source or development version of the kernel and then loaded.

You need the -devel package for you currently running kernel; it's easier to just install kernel-*-latest and kernel-*-devel-latest, this way you'll always get the latest kernel and its matching -devel kernel whenever the kernel is updated.

* is, desktop586 or desktop or server; you can find which flavour you're currently running:
Code: Select all
uname -a
