[SOLVED] NVIDIA display settings asking for root

Running Mageia 2 KDE with a nvidia geforce gtx 550 ti.
New to Mageia, I was running Mint gnome2/KDE.
Nvidia display settings/x server display configuration, when trying to save to x configuration it says I need to login in as root.
This is a fresh install I already went to MCC and set up repos and I also set up the nonfree, I saw the nvidia drivers in the list and updated all and rebooted, how do I log in as root, I went to MCC being that it asks you to login as root and then left root running and went back to nvidia display settings but nothing changed, still could not save.
MCC/videocard displays my 550ti but shows geforce 400 drivers, went in to konsole (not my favorite place) and tried the su - and root password ran nvidia-xconfig all that did was freak me out with the same result, still cant save.
Please Help, thanks
