Is sgfxi available with mageia

Greetings,

My Toshiba notebook ATI Mobility Radeon 4500/5100 was recognized by mageia and the ATI Radeon HD 2000 to HD 6300 (radeon/fglrx) driver was installed. I don't think I have 3D capabilities with this driver because Swee tHome 3D will not load.

I used to run Mepis on this notebook and with the help of sgfxi I used to install an ITA driver that allowed 3D. How can use sgfxi with Mageia?

I already did that and the system tells me that a proprietary driver is available and installs it. When I go to configure, I do not have th e#D option as shown in the wiki. So is it possible to log out of X and use sgfxi?

Which #D option do you mean?

And no, sgfx is for debian/ubuntu, we have drakx11 for that.

Thanks. I did red that and that is my question, how to get my Ati card to deliver 3D like I know it is capable off when configured with sgfxi (you still did not tell me if that application can run under mageia!)

Why you think it's caused by lack of 3d-capabilities? run the app from terminal and look if there are some error-messages.

I am assuming because I already had the problem with Mepis and it was resolved once my video driver was setup properly. I ran sweethome3g from konsole and it is a 3d issue:

As you can see is the ATI direct renderer used. No need to configure the card further. Seems to be a java related problem.

So this is actually a java problem, and not with the graphics driver.

@alf: Whhich java is selected as default, can you please post the output of

update-alternatives --config java
as root without entering anything at the selection prompt or just pressing enter?

@michel: Can you please do the same?

just tried jre-1.6; sweethome3d runs with it like with jre-1.7. as i said can't really help with that as i have no ati-card. but if the fglrx-driver has an configuration tool it could be helpful to fiddle around with that. maybe Michel could gain more help here.

LSD failed to start: ATI Events Daemon
See Systemcte Status atieventsd.Services

There might be some mistakes in the text.

This has not much to do with the driver itself, if i remember correctly this is only a daemon which monitors for new display devices,
e.g. when you attach a new screen or beamer to your box, then the ati control center will pop up. The driver is active, as you can see from your Xorg.0.log which you already posted above.
