Some konsole windows not appearing in icon-only task manager

I currently have two console windows open. However, only one appears in the icon-only task manager.
This behaviour is not unique to this machine either - I have now seen it on three different machines running Mageia 2. I believe it occurs after the machine has been shut down with konsole windows open.
The only way I seem to be able to get to the "invisible" one is to minimise or drag other windows until I can see a bit of it, then click to bring it to the front.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour? It seems that there is somehow a disconnect between KDE's remembered open apps and the icon-only task manager.

Well, not sure what you actually mean, but that sounds like the main "feature" of icon-only task manager. It only shows one entry for multiple windows of the same program. Is that what you mean? Maybe you want to check the second paragraph of https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_2_Err ... ace_Issues

Sorry, I didn't explain that very well.

I know there is only one icon for each app now (e.g. 45 Firefox windows have just one icon in the tool tray with lots of little white arrows!).

The odd thing with konsole is that I'm getting only one little white arrow, even though there are two windows open, and it only shows me the one window when I hover over the icon. It seems to be unique - everything else gets arrows as it should, even Foxit Reader and VirtualBox.

You're sure you're not using tabs/subwindows in konsole? Otherwise that should be reported as a bug, if somebody can reproduce it.
FWIW, was it a fresh installation or an upgrade, and did you keep an old /home ?

I am using tabs in konsole on some of the machines exhibiting the problem but it doesn't seem related to that.
e.g. This machine I'm on now has one window that has just one tab (I.e. is as it was when started) and another with four tabs. The window with four tabs was invisible to the icon task manager until yesterday, where it suddenly became visible (I'm not sure what I did to make it appear).

However, one of the laptops has two single-tab windows, one of which is invisible.

The current machine was upgraded from Mageia 1 and I have a copy of /home from before on tape.
The laptop I mention above was a new install from DVD.

I think the problem could (not 100% sure) relate to whether compiz was installed at the time the konsole was opened. Does that sound credible?

Well, it could be related to the fact that compiz would be in use or not, but just installing it doesn't change anything, AFAIR.

You may have to play around with disabling/enabling compiz and KDE desktop effects, to see if there's a difference.
Also you may want to look at icon-only task manager settings, as it seems to be highly configurable. Can't help you directly with this one, as i prefer the old classical task manager and dislike the general behaviour of icon-only.
