NVidia GT650M Optimus not work

NVidia GT650M Optimus not work

Postby adriend » Jun 23rd, '12, 21:37

Hi,

Code: Select all
[root@localhost adrien]# lspci | grep -i VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Ivy Bridge Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 0fd1 (rev a1)

I have two Graphic Cards, and my NVidia Geforce GT650M have Optimus technology.

When i start a game, there is 3 FPS, whereas under Windows 7, there are 60 Frame Per Second.

In then Mageia COntrol Center, it's the Intel driver which is selected, and I can't use the NVidia driver.

Is it possible to not use the Intel graphic card and use only the NVidia ?

Impossible for me to desactivate the Intel Graphic card in the BIOS.

Can you help me ?

Maybe you want to have a look at viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1755
And which mainboard do you have that you can't disable onboard graphics?

Hello doktor5000,

On my mainboard, I can't disable onboard graphics. I look in the BIOS, it's not possible.

While I wait an answer this topic, I ask on different boards, and I read about bumblebee project.

I edited my sourcelist and upgade my Mageia2 to Mageia Cauldron to test this bumblebee, and it Works perfectly !

Bumblebee is the solution for me, but I'd rather stay on Mageia2 instead of use Cauldron.

For The moment, Caudron works!, I use it.

I can confirm that the software works well, and that the dependencies are installed correctly.
I had to install anyway libvirtualgl and lib64virtualgl RPM to use optirun commnd with wine and wine64 application.

Actually that was no my question, i've asked for the name of the mainboard.
But as you seem to have found a workaround ...

But keep in mind those cauldron sources.
