Mageia 2 freezes when using alt+tab quickly KDE

Hi!

When Mageia 2 came out, I immediately did a network update to upgrade my previous Mageia 1.
Since then I've been having some issues when using KDE. Whenever I try to change an application window with alt+Tab, if I release keys too quickly, desktop freezes out and I must do a hard reset (un-powering PC).
I'm using a Nvidia GTS 250 graphics card with Nvidia drivers. I have compiz active to give "nice" effects. This keeps on happening even when no 3D effect is on.
When I had Mageia 1 there was no such problems. I haven't tested yet on Gnome, though.

Hope somebody can tell me what could possibly be wrong.

How did you enable compiz? And do you maybe have KDE desktop effects enabled at the same time?
systemsettings -> workspace-effects -> disable workspace effects (or something like that, translated from german)

I enabled it with CompizConfig. Yes, I have KDE desktop effects enabled also.
I got it disabled as you suggested, i'm still getting a frozen desktop, though :(

So you only enabled KDE desktop effects? How about also disabling Compiz and recheck if you still experience those freezes?

Hi! I had already tried to disable all effects, KDE & Compiz and re-enabling them again one by one, but it didn't work.
At this very moment I've decided to migrate to Gnome, at least until a newer KDE version fixing this issue is released.

Thanks for your support. I truly, truly appreciate it.

Best regards.

KDE works fine for most users here, with and without desktop effects, and nobody else reported this, so this is only a configuration issue on your side, not really something KDE can fix.

Definitely, you're absolutely right, now that I re-enabled all compiz effects, I cannot even use Gnome :( it seems I'm having a strange configuration issue. Now whether I'm in Gnome or in KDE, I cannot even use the mouse and th desktop seems to freeze out.
Do you have any idea what else can i do to solve this?

Thanks for your support.

Simply create a new user and login as that one, should get you a working configuration.

Hi!, I did create a brand new user, i've been working with it during last week and the problem seems to keep happening. Perhaps i'll try to do a new installation on weekend.

Thanks.
