Downloaded video file has .bif suffix

I have downloaded a video file from the internet that has a .bif suffix.
The file command says only that it is a data file.
What advice might anyone have about how to play this video on my Mageia system? :?:
What advice might anyone have about converting this video to a more commonly known file format? :?:

Thank you.

It could be anything but if you are sure it is a video it is probably a BIF archive.

You can download biftool from https://developer.roku.com/docs/developer-program/media-playback/trick-mode/bif-file-creation.md#linux-installation.

Are you sure that you downloaded a videofile from a source that can be trusted (no ripped, illegal, warez, whatever site)?

Sorry, I hit submit on my last post before it was finished.

If you download the biftool and run it with the BIF archive as an argument it should unpack it and there is probably a more common format on the inside.

That seems only for creating .bif videos, not for playback.

It is used for both creating and extracting them.

Of course, I have never actually seen a BIF file in general use so I can't test that theory.
