LG UltraWide monitor (38WK95C) - limited resolution

Postby vmunich » Nov 10th, '20, 11:34

hello everyone,
I just got a new LG UltraWide monitor (38WK95C).
Recommended resolution is 3840x1600@60Hz (ratio: 2,4), so the screen is large (=wide) and basically replaces two monitors

LG (of course) does not offer much support for Linux users.
Mageia offers many choice when selecting the monitor (when looking in MCC/Hardware, Graphic) and I selected "LG HDR WQHD" as Plug n Play

My graphic card is an Intel® UHD-Grafik 630 (integrated on Mainboard on a desktop Dell Inspiron).

Unfortunately, the graphic card does not offer 3840x1600 and it seems that 1920x1080 is the max it can do (ratio: 1,7). So I get a small picture on my wide screen...
Is there any way I could benefit more from this monitor with Mageia ?
I guess the limitation comes from the graphic card, which, on my sysem, is not easy to replace...
Best,
Vincent

Please go there again, and only select Plug&Play itself, not a specific monitor.

And please post the output of
Code: Select all
xrandr -q

You may need to add a custom resolution for that.
Have a look at e.g. https://askubuntu.com/questions/377937/ ... resolution or https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xr ... esolutions
