[SOLVED]Strange default on my screen

[SOLVED]Strange default on my screen

Postby davidmageia » Oct 2nd, '15, 11:49

Since the upgrade of the kernel yesterday, I have a strange distorsion of the image on my screen. I have attached a screen schot of this effect.
My graphic card is Intel 810 ; 1680*1050 24 bbp.
My processior is a double Core Intel 1.8 GHz and I have 3 Go of Ram (this is my professional computer at my office...)
Which information can I provide to you ?
I reboot with the previous kernel because I could not work with the new one.

Actually I had this problem previously with Mageia 4 with Firefox (just on the webpage) and when I launch Libreoffice.

I know that my computer is quite "old"...

You would probably need to change sna to uxa in /etc/X11/Xorg.conf as e.g. described in the thread about latest kernel updates: viewtopic.php?p=59627#p59627

Quoting from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In ... SNA_issues

"UXA" (Unified Acceleration Architecture) is the mature backend that was introduced to support the GEM driver model. It is in the process of being superseded by "SNA" (Sandybridge's New Acceleration)

So with any text editor with root permissions, you need to change in /etc/X11/xorg.conf the following line:
Code: Select all
Option      "AccelMethod"  "sna"

to
Code: Select all
Option      "AccelMethod"  "uxa"

Please place command-output between [CODE]-tags, to improve readability, thanks ahead!!! ;)

No need to repost, you could have simply edited your last post and added the code tags as I just did.

davidmageia wrote:Thanks but I have no such line in my xorg.conf file.

Code: Select all
Section "Device"
    Identifier "device1"
    VendorName "Intel Corporation"
    BoardName "Intel 810 and later"
    Driver "intel"
    Option "DPMS"
EndSection

Simply add it in the Device section, could look like this:

Code: Select all
Section "Device"
    Identifier "device1"
    VendorName "Intel Corporation"
    BoardName "Intel 810 and later"
    Driver "intel"
    Option "DPMS"
    Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection
